True North Endeavors Announces a Learning Management System

True North Training user’s gain access to a custom designed Learning Management System to further educational goals.

Doylestown, PA – February 12, 2015 The Learning Management System (LMS) accessible through True North Training offers educational tracking, reporting, alerts features, and certificates of completion. It has been designed as an educational support for the nonprofit community and current Abila MIP Fund Accounting™ users training needs.

The addition of an LMS benefits every level of an organization. Users can independently monitor their progress, and partake in quizzes and assessments to ensure retention of information. Administrators can assign learning tracks, set dates for track completion, and monitor overall employee progress. Best of all, with our LMS information becomes knowledge, and learning remains flexible and convenient.

The Winter 2015 issue of Training Industry Magazine discusses formatting training content into bite-sized chunks and states, “…repackaged morsels take the learner through a prescribed path from novice to competency in convenient and retainable doses.” Learning Management Systems are quickly becoming the preferred method for training and education across industries.

“The goal of our team at True North was to create a comprehensive Learning Management System. It was a natural next step in the process, given our teams’ in-depth knowledge of MIP. With True North, users have everything they need to increase their professional proficiency on their own time, and focus on information relevant to their daily occupational goals. Nonprofit accounting professionals could spend less time drudging through the books, and more time on the missions that matter,” said Paul Waters, COO of True North Endeavor

The Importance of Budgeting for Nonprofits!

Balancing the AccountsMany Nonprofits struggle with establishing their budget for the next year. A budget is a financial plan that serves as a guide for month to month operations. Budgeting is extremely important for many reasons beyond the books and money management that many nonprofits do not realize.

The first main reason why budgeting for nonprofits is crucial is it allows you to focus on short and long-term strategic goals, which are usually connected to the availability and timing of funding. If your budget is not planned out strategically then your organization may not be able to reach its highest potential.

Budgeting also allows you to create financial controls that allow you to set spending limits and will attempt to keep costs in line with revenues. Creating financial controls and spending limits will allow your nonprofit organization to not overspend, and make sure you are making beneficial decisions for your organization.

A good budget can provide outside parties granting money or other resources to the organization a financial plan based upon accountability, transparency, and good faith. Outside parties that grant money to nonprofit organizations want to see where their money is going, and that it is going to a good cause. Having a budget established allows you to show where the money you are receiving is going in the organization.

Budgeting will also allow nonprofits to maintain focus on the organization’s mission and grow their organization. Having a well thought out budget will allow you to keep your financials up to date and stable, by knowing ahead of time what amount you want to/can spend on certain things. A budget also will allow organizations to grow by using their current resources to the maximum, and hopefully gain more grants along the way.

The final main reason as to the importance of budgeting for nonprofits is it allows the organizations board to use the budget in its oversight and review. Having an up to date, in-depth budget will increase your chance to getting your board to approve the budget that you are looking to receive for that year. In return allowing you to accomplish all the goals and objectives your organization has set for the year.

Budgeting is extremely important for nonprofit organizations to be successful and to accomplish all the goals they wish to achieve. The Main Differences Between Online And Classroom Style Training You Should Know About!

There are many differences between online and classroom style training that set the two apart from each other. After reading through these differences I’m sure you are going to sway towards one style of learning over the other.

The first main difference is that online training has frequent course interaction where classroom style training has more passive course material. Online video training allows you to go back and review materials as much as you like. Unlike classroom style training where you hear something once and you’re supposed to remember it. Studies show many learn better by “doing” rather than just “reading” the material.

The second difference between online and classroom style training is online training has a positive study environment, while classroom style training there can be more day dreaming then learning being done. The online learning environment also allows you to have no negative people surrounding you or distracting you (phone calls, people sleeping, loud talkers, etc). Whereas classroom style training you have to sit through long classes with others possibly distracting you from learning effectively.

The third main difference between the two is online video training is self-paced, whereas classroom style training ignores individual learning preferences. Online training allows every human being to utilize their own way of learning. Not everyone learns at the same pace, and online video training allows you to learn at the pace you are capable of. This is not the case in classroom style learning where you are forced to learn at the same pace as everyone else, and at the pace the teacher wants to teach. Classroom style training does not take in to consideration that everyone is different and learns differently.

The forth main difference between online and classroom style training is online is more visually stimulating to the eye. Video training is more appealing to the eye and less harsh then staring at a chalkboard or instructor all day. Overall would you rather look at something enticing or boring?

The last main difference between the two is flexibility. Online training allows you to create your own schedule on your own time. Classroom style training is the complete opposite with a strict schedule. You need to plan your busy work day around classroom training, or take days off away from work to receive the training.

After hearing all the differences between the two which style do you like better? If you are saying online training then subscribe to True North Training, and say good bye to classroom style training for Abila MIP Fund Accounting™ !

How TrueNorth Training Differs From Webinars!

We have received many questions relating to how our video training series is different than Webinars. True North Training is an all-encompassing video training series and will teach you everything you need to know about Abila MIP Fund Accounting™, rather than just certain aspects like you would learn in Webinars. Webinars are useful and better then classroom style training, but there are still set times for them which makes it hard for many users to attend them. Whereas True North Training is available 24/7 allowing you to train and learn when it is most convenient for you.

One of the biggest differences between the two is the price and the value that comes along with that price. Webinars usually run for an average of 3 hours and usually cost $300-$400 dollars per user. Where True North Training is available for a year for $499 for 45 videos with 3 hours of content for 5 users. There is no comparison to the value of True North.

Another main difference between the two is the ability to access the training information again after watching the videos. True North Training is available based on your subscription of 2 days, a month, or a year. Unlike if you signup and watch a Webinar where the information is usually only available for the time period it is shown.

Overall there is no comparison between True North and Webinars as you can see in the chart below! Join the revolution today and see the value of True North first hand!

Learn How Businesses Are Using Visual Learning!

Visual learning is a teaching style in which ideas, concepts, data and other information are associated with images, and techniques. Businesses are now using visual learning in three different aspects of their organization.

The first is for new hires on-board. You hire this awesome new employee that you are so glad to have a part of the team, but our swamped with work that you don’t have time to train the new employee. This has become more and more common nowadays especially in nonprofit organizations, where many have numerous jobs that they hold within the organization. E-learning is a great way to train new hires while also saving mangers/ owners time to do their own job. E-learning allows new employees to learn on their own and not have to rely on others.

As the growth of visual learning keeps expanding into other aspects of businesses we have seen an increase in e-learning for leadership/management development. The key to any successful business is having managers/owners who continuously development their knowledge, and never stop learning new ways and processes to help their organization in the long run.

“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

You will never have a successful company in this ever growing technology based world, if you do not continue to development your leadership and management department with new knowledge.

The last way businesses our using visual learning is for continuing education. Just as management and owners need to continue their knowledge employees need to as well. Training on new techniques and procedures are needed for employees to be successful in the workplace. Continuing education programs available to employees over the internet on their own time is a lot easier, than having employees travel to training or conferences.

True North Trainingfor Abila MIP Fund Accounting™ will allow organizations to train new hires, enhance leadership knowledge, and build on employee’s inherent knowledge on MIP Fund Accounting.

In addition to recognition from the Silver Telly Council, the judging panel that selects the Telly Awards winners, the Internet community helps decide the People’s Telly Awards winners.

A prestigious judging panel of over 500 accomplished industry professionals, each a past winner of a Silver Telly and a member of The Silver Telly Council, judged the competition, upholding the historical standard of excellence that Telly represents. The Silver Council evaluated entries to recognize distinction in creative work – entries do not compete against each other – rather entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Causes of the Shift in the Way Training is Done!

elearning 3Long gone are the days of sitting through 8 hour classroom style lectures or training classes. Now everything is available online at your own convenience right from your own home. There are many changes in the workplace that have caused this shift in the way training/learning is being done.

One of the biggest causes is the education gap across all the generations in the workplace now. There are four generations currently in the workplace and all of them learn differently by the resources that were provided to them. The baby boomer generation tends to go towards the traditional ways of learning, while the millennials sway towards technology with the assumption that learning is more convenient. All of the generations in the workplace have one big thing in common, though, – they are all strapped for resources, and time and need training to be available at their fingertips. This shows that online and self-paced video training is a must in the diverse workplace nowadays. Allowing people to learn at their own pace and on their own time is the only way to appeal to all the different learning styles across all the generations.

The need for cost effective training is another cause for the shift of training going to online. Online video training will increase because people need cost effective ways to get training. Traveling to seminars and conferences is not feasible for many because of the high travel rates and days taken away from work.

The increased focus on productivity in the workplace also has helped cause the shift of how training is done. Micro-learning has become very important and necessary for many people. Micro-learning deals with small learning units and short-term learning activities. With generations entering the work force that know where to find resources quickly this is going to become extremely popular and a must in the future for learning/training to be successful.

The increased need of collaborative learning also helped influenced the shift towards online video training. With the ever growing amount of social media networks available to get answers to your questions and interact with others about topics, collaborative learning is key to online training in the future.

Overall there are four main causes that has shifted the way of learning more towards online, the generational gap in the workplace, the need for cost effective training, increased focus on productivity, and the increase of collaborative learning.
