There are many differences between online and classroom style training that set the two apart from each other. After reading through these differences I’m sure you are going to sway towards one style of learning over the other.
The first main difference is that online training has frequent course interaction where classroom style training has more passive course material. Online video training allows you to go back and review materials as much as you like. Unlike classroom style training where you hear something once and you’re supposed to remember it. Studies show many learn better by “doing” rather than just “reading” the material.
The second difference between online and classroom style training is online training has a positive study environment, while classroom style training there can be more day dreaming then learning being done. The online learning environment also allows you to have no negative people surrounding you or distracting you (phone calls, people sleeping, loud talkers, etc). Whereas classroom style training you have to sit through long classes with others possibly distracting you from learning effectively.
The third main difference between the two is online video training is self-paced, whereas classroom style training ignores individual learning preferences. Online training allows every human being to utilize their own way of learning. Not everyone learns at the same pace, and online video training allows you to learn at the pace you are capable of. This is not the case in classroom style learning where you are forced to learn at the same pace as everyone else, and at the pace the teacher wants to teach. Classroom style training does not take in to consideration that everyone is different and learns differently.
The forth main difference between online and classroom style training is online is more visually stimulating to the eye. Video training is more appealing to the eye and less harsh then staring at a chalkboard or instructor all day. Overall would you rather look at something enticing or boring?
The last main difference between the two is flexibility. Online training allows you to create your own schedule on your own time. Classroom style training is the complete opposite with a strict schedule. You need to plan your busy work day around classroom training, or take days off away from work to receive the training.
